DAS VILLAIN I've never heard of the kora instrument until seeing Sona being interviewed on 60 Minutes nearly 2 years ago. Upon seeing the interview I purchased her 'first album' on Bandcamp and was immediately blown away with Sona's genius as a singer-songwriter. She incorporates her West African roots and kora playing into contemporary music that's foreign to the "reductive 'Murican zeitgeists". Sona's current release is stellar if not better than her previous release that's a near masterpiece. Favorite track: Mamamuso.
