This song is a prayer for the evils of war, and a lament for the unforgivable pain and suffering of innocent children brought to this world in the midst of conflict rooted in the perpetual human quest for power and money. I mourn the lives of our most precious gifts, destroyed before they have even started. I pray for the forgiveness of humanity for the evils of war, and for the hypocrisy of the nations of this world that hide behind the veil of human rights whilst still reaping the benefits of war.
lyrics
She didn't know
Her toy was a bomb
Her purity, innocence ripped away
In agony
What did she do to deserve this life?
Tiny bodies gasp for air polluted by death
Lives sacrificed for power and money
I cry
Our hearts burn
Our souls mourn
Deliver them
From this world
All the pain
All the torture
Our gifts from God destroyed
Just for greed
Sweet child
Close your eyes
Your death brings fortune to the streets of the powerful cities

Ballaké Sissoko is my favorite kora player, and following his musical life has led me to some of my most beloved musical discoveries.
This latest release is every bit as gorgeous as all of his prior work.
And it is so clear how he brings the best out of each of his collaborators. Charlie Moonbeam
